Guide for public EV charging
Our fast chargers deliver electricity with a power of up to 50 kW. With fast charging, you can charge your car from 0 to 80% in 15 to 30 minutes (depending on the car’s battery capacity and temperature). When the car’s battery is charged to over 80%, the charging power usually decreases. In the Mer’s charging network, there are two types of connectors on fast chargers: CCS (also known as Combo) and CHAdeMO. Your car only supports one of these connectors. All our fast charging stations have CCS connectors, but not all of them have CHAdeMo connectors. If you have a CHAdeMo-compatible car, it is important to check if the unit you want to use has a CHAdeMo connector.
Our ultra-fast chargers deliver electricity with a power of up to 150 kW. The time it takes to charge the car up to 80% depends, among other things, on the car’s capacity and temperature. At Mer’s ultra-fast chargers, two cars can charge simultaneously. The power will then be divided equally between the two cars, meaning that the charger will provide each car with up to 75 kW charging power.
Our regular chargers (also known as semi-fast chargers) deliver alternating current (AC) with a power of up to 22 kW. This is more than most cars can receive, so the charging speed is determined by your car’s charging capability. The higher the charging power, the faster the car charges. If your car has a charging power of 10 kW and a battery capacity of 60 kWh, you can charge the battery within 6 hours with a regular charger (t = 60/10).
IMPORTANT: To use a regular charger, you need your own Mode-3 charging cable, either type 1 or type 2.
The easiest way to find charging stations at Mer is to download our mobile app, Mer Connect Sverige.
In the app, you can easily:
- Navigate to the desired charging station.
- Filter to view charging stations and filter by connector type.
- Start and stop charging.
Most of our charging stations have both a fast charger or an ultra-fast charger and a regular charger (semi-fast charger).
The fast charger and ultra-fast charger always have their own built-in cables on the charger. There are two types of connectors: CCS (also known as Combo) and CHAdeMO. Your car only supports one of these connectors.
To use the regular charger, you need to bring your own Type 2 charging cable. This is usually included when you purchase your car.
